Our School

Lenamore National School is a vibrant country school situated in the picturesque rural setting of North Kerry, nestled between the parishes of Moyvane, Tarbert and Ballylongford with close proximity to Listowel.

A unique learning experience

Scoil Náisiúnta Léana Mhóir offers a unique learning experience. We pride ourselves with an active learning environment, assured individual attention and an exciting range of extra-curricular experiences. Development of the children’s confidence and citizenship is of paramount importance, as is being challenged academically to their full potential. We strive for excellence in Gaeilge, English and Mathematics. A family atmosphere in the classroom leads to greater levels of happiness and productivity.

A wide range of activities.

Pupils partake in a wide range of activities which nurture and promote a well- rounded education: Green Schools, Health Promoting School, Incredible Edibles, Blast, Creative Clusters, Discover Primary Science, Field trips and Junior Entrepreneur. Our dedicated staff provide and promote various creative interests in the following areas:

  • Sport: Football, Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, Badminton, Tennis, Swimming

Mission Statement

Our aim is to provide a school which is concerned with the development of the whole person, which encourages involvement in a balance of intellectual, sporting and cultural activities and which promotes a growth of self-worth and respect for others.

In our school we lay stress on kindness, respect, trust, loyalty, co-operation, empathy, commitment, dedication and truth.

While  Scoil Náisiúnta an Léana  Mhóir has a catholic ethos, it also embraces other religious traditions and encourages acceptance and respect for different beliefs.

In a caring and respectful way, we affirm each person’s self-worth and dignity and provide a student-centred education that nurtures the strengths, talents and potential of all in a safe, happy and secure environment.

We endeavour to challenge the gifted child and to give special support, care and attention to children with any level of additional needs.

Scoil Náisiúnta Léana Mhóir encourages the involvement of parents through home/school contacts and through their assistance with all extra -curricular activities and school community celebrations.

Scoil Náisiúnta Léana Mhóir aims to develop a sense of personal responsibility in all pupils for the physical and the natural environment.
